Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line have announced a June 10th 2016 release date for James Wan’s upcoming sequel to his supernatural horror hit “The Conjuring”.
Entitled “The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist,” the film continues the adventures of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga). Chad and Carey Hayes penned the script and filming is slated to begin early Summer 2015.
Though an official synopsis isn’t yet out, the title suggests it refers to an incident in a village in the U.K. in 1977 which the Warrens investigated. A single mother with four children reportedly found their home the alleged subject of a haunting with demonic voices, thrown about items and even the levitation of the young girls.
Events went on for some time, and got quite a bit of press coverage, which led to numerous investigations. It was determined that the young girls faked at least some of the incidents.
The new date puts it against Lionsgate’s heist sequel “Now You See Me 2” and Sony’s film adaptation of the popular “Uncharted” video game series.
