New Line has pushed back “The Conjuring” sequel. Originally slated to open on October 23rd next year, the studio has instead opted for an unspecific 2016 release.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are returning to star in the follow-up which will explore another case of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. James Wan helmed the first film, no word as yet regarding who will helm the sequel.
The first film cost $20 million and went on to solid reviews and a $320 million worldwide gross. Three weeks back the spin-off film “Annabelle,” shot for just $6 million, opened and has already amassed a worldwide total of $166 million.
New Line isn’t abandoning that October 2015 date though, instead they’ve scheduled an untitled horror film for the slot.
