“Colony” & “Brockmire” Renewed, “Man” Axed

Just ahead of the second season finale, USA Network has renewed its Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies-led invasion drama “Colony” for a third season.

The new season will consist of thirteen episodes and will return in early 2018. “Colony” ranks as cable’s top scripted series on Thursdays among total viewers, and comes as USA has just picked up “Falling Water” for a second season.

In similar news, IFC has renewed the Hank Azaria and Amanda Peet-led comedy “Brockmire” for a second season. Eight new 30-minute episodes from the Funny or Die-produced series are slated to debut in early 2018.

The news isn’t so good for Jay Baruchel whose high-concept FXX comedy “Man Seeking Woman” has been cancelled after three seasons. The third season finale, which aired last month, now serving as the series finale.

The series was a critical fave, but audiences had no interest with the show pulling in just 367,000 total viewers in Live+7 ratings.
