Colin Farrell is reportedly in negotiations to play The Penguin in the Matt Reeves-directed “The Batman” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Should the deal close, he will round out the main trio of villains alongside Paul Dano as The Riddler and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. The trio will take on Robert Pattinson as Batman, while other cast includes Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
The Irish actor has had a resurgence in recent years playing stylish bad guys in films like “Widows,” “Roman J. Israel Esq” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.
If he signs as The Penguin he takes on a role made famous by Burgess Meredith in the original 1960s series, Danny DeVito in 1992’s “Batman Returns,” and more recently Robin Taylor in “Gotham”.
Reeves’ film will start shooting early next year for a June 25th 2021 release.
