Sacha Baron Cohen has dropped out of a proposed Freddie Mercury biopic due to “creative differences”.
Cohen’s manager confirmed the news, adding that the actor clashed with producers over the film’s tone.
Peter Morgan (“Frost/Nixon,” “The Queen”) is penning the script which deals with the lead up to Queen’s iconic performance at the Live Aid concert in 1985.
Cohen had been linked with the project for several years . Surviving band members Brian May and Roger Taylor will oversee the music featured in the film.
Baron Cohen is currently working on a spy spoof at Paramount, and is developing the true story comedy “The Lesbian” for the same studio.
