“Clubland”, the new Australian feature film which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival yesterday, has been bought by Warner Independent for the important US, UK and German markets. The reported US$4m sale is one of the biggest deals this year at the Festival.
“Clubland”, directed by Cherie Nowlan and produced by Rosemary Blight, will be released in Australia by Palace Films later this year. UK-based sales agent Goalpost Film is handling international sales.
“Clubland” screened to a sold-out cinema of 1200 people for its world premiere at Sundance which was attended by Cherie Nowlan, Rosemary Blight, screenwriter Keith Thompson and the cast.
British actress Brenda Blethyn shares the screen with two of Australia’s fastest rising stars, Khan Chittenden (The Caterpillar Wish and West) and Emma Booth (Shark Net). The fine ensemble cast includes Rebecca Gibney, Frank Holden, Philip Quast and Russell Dkystra.
