Clooney Joins DeNiro On 36

George Clooney is close to a deal to star opposite Robert De Niro in “Monster’s Ball” director Marc Forster’s next film “36”.

The thriller is a remake the French cop saga “36 Quai des Orfevres” with Dean Georgaris (“The Manchurian Candidate”) adapting the script and setting the film in New York reports Production Weekly.

The French film, starring Gerard Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil as detectives heading plain-clothes divisions at Paris police headquarters, centers on the quest to solve a series of armored car robberies with a promotion going to whomever catches the perpetrators.

Shooting begins later this year on location in New York City.
