The rival Jungle Book films are giving themselves some breathing room with Warner Bros. Pictures scheduling the Andy Serkis-directed live action take on the Rudyard Kipling classic for October 21st 2016.
Scoring the new title of “Jungle Book: Origins,” it’s expected to be a darker and more adult-orented take on the tale of an orphaned boy raised by animals in the wilderness. the Jon Favreau-directed Disney version opens a full year earlier in October 9th 2015.
Meanwhile, Universal Pictures has announced an April 8th 2016 release days for their upcoming film adaptation of the best-selling children’s book series “Clifford The Big Red Dog”.
Matt Lopez (“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”) is working on the script which follows a young girl who gets a red puppy for her birthday that grows to the rather unusual size of 25 feet tall.
