Actress Emilia Clarke stopped doing nude scenes on HBO’s big-budget fantasy series “Game of Thrones” back in season three, but the actress lifted that rule for last night’s fourth episode of the sixth season in which she got her annual ‘big moment’ in what’s been dubbed the ‘Fire Goddess’ scene.
I won’t go into spoilers, however Clarke spoke with EW about the scene after it aired confirming that the body on display is 100% her and she’s proud of the moment:
“It’s so exciting, very tingly-making. Every season I get at least one spine-chilling moment. I just stand up and I go, ‘I’m hearing what you’re all saying, but funny thing, I’m going to kill you all. I forgot that I have an ace in my back pocket and now I win.’ I’d like to remind people the last time I took my clothes off was season 3. That was awhile ago. It’s now season 6. But this is all me, all proud, all strong. I’m just feeling genuinely happy I said ‘Yes.’ That ain’t no body double!”
Clarke’s nude portion of the scene was shot on a closed set in Belfast, while the portion featuring Dothraki actors was shot at the Vaes Dothrak village set constructed in Spain. Clarke claims shooting this scene was very reminiscent of her first season finale see:
“Taking off my clothes is not the easiest thing, but with the magic of the effects, I don’t have to do a season one and go on a cliff and do it. I’m in control of it.”
“Game of Thrones” returns on Sunday night with the season’s fifth episode entitled “The Door”.
