Clarius Picks Up Stephen King’s “Cell”

Clarius Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to Benaroya Pictures and The Genre Company’s film adaptation of the Stephen King thriller novel “Cell”. In making the announcement, the company has also released the first still from the film which will open wide later this year.

Tod ‘Kip’ Williams (“Paranormal Activity 2”) helms the film in which a powerful signal is broadcast across mobile networks worldwide, causing cell phone users’ minds to be instantly and dangerously re-programmed.

Heading north through New England in search of his wife and son, Clay Riddell (John Cusack) is joined by a group of survivors hoping to fend off the bloodthirsty and hyper-connected ‘phoners’.

Samuel L. Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Stacy Keach also star. King adapted the screenplay himself, and both Michael Benaroya and Richard Saperstein are producing.
