Civil War Actress Joins “Wonder Woman”

Florence Kasumba, who had a small role as the head of security for T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and engaged in dialogue with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in a key scene from “Captain America: Civil War,” has apparently joined the cast of Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman” film at Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films.

CBM reports that the actress will play Senator Acantha, an Amazon character from the comics. In the original comics, Acantha was one of the Amazonian leaders who argued that Diana should be allowed to serve as an ambassador to the world of ‘man’.

Production on the “Wonder Woman” film recently wrapped with post-production now in full swing ahead of the film’s June 2017 release.

Even before her Marvel gig, German actress Kasumba had assembled a solid resume over the past decade with roles in the likes of “The Quest,” “I Love You Too,” “Transpapa” and Syfy’s “Dominion”. She’ll soon be seen playing the Wicked Witch of the East in Tarsem Singh’s “Emerald City” limited series which premieres early next year.
