Andrew Adamson (“Shrek,” “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”) is directing and James Cameron is producing a family-oriented 3D feature film using footage from Cirque du Soleil’s various different themed shows in Las Vegas reports Deadline.
The plan is to launch a series of family features that incorporate Cirque du Soleil sequences into a narrative storyline, created by Adamson, where the lead character has been transported to a magical world.
Adamson is currently in New Zealand shooting said narrative bridging sequences while he and Cameron were already involved in capturing some Cirque du Soleil footage using 3D cameras.
The project is reportedly around one-third complete and several distributors are currently interested in climbing onboard. Cirque du Soleil itself is the primary financier and will produce alongside Cameron, Cary Granat, Ed Jones and Aron Warner.
