In the wake of their upcoming TV series for AMC based on Garth Ennis’ acclaimed “Preacher” comics, the show’s producing team of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Neal Moritz are ready to do the same again on another network.
The trio will produce a TV series adaptation of Ennis’ “The Boys”. Developed by Rogen, Goldberg and “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke, and to be written by Kripke, it is set in a time where most of the superheroes are corrupted by their celebrity status and engage in reckless behavior that compromises the safety of the world.
The action follows a CIA squad, known informally as ‘the boys,’ whose job is to keep watch on the proliferation of superheroes and, if necessary, eliminate some of them. The series ran for 72 issues from 2008-2012.
Rogen and Goldberg will direct the pilot like they did on “Preacher”. Moritz, Ennis, Rogen, Goldberg, Kripke, James Weaver, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Pavun Shetty and Ori Marmur will all executive produce.
