Cinema Libre Picks Up Stone’s “Border”

Cinema Libre Studio has scored North American rights to Oliver Stone’s documentary “South of the Border” reports Reuters.

Setting out to explore the rise to power of current Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, Stone travelled to Venezuela in January last year to get a close-up look at the controversial leader.

The documentary however soon became a more ambitious project about the region as a whole and how leaders of Latin America have been “intentionally villainized by the U.S. mass media”.

The film will be released in ten cities starting with New York on June 25th followed by Los Angeles on July 2nd.
