“The O.C. ” and “Chuck” creator Josh Schwartz and his producing partner Stephanie Savage have scored the remake rights to the BAFTA-award winning British sci-fi drama series “Misfits” reports Vulture.
The story revolves around a group of working-class teens who find themselves endowed with superpowers following an electrical storm.
The show is known for mixing a familiar “Heroes”-esque premise with “Buffy”-style wit and “Skins”-level realistic depiction of teenage behaviour (ie. plenty of swearing & nudity).
Schwartz and show creator Howard Overman are teaming to write the U.S. version, no network is yet attached. The third season of the original kicks off later this month in the UK.
The question becomes will this suffer the fate of many UK-to-US show translations which, even if they pull in decent critical notices, rarely last a full season.
