Christoph Waltz Commits Some “True Crimes”

Christoph Waltz has signed on to star in the thriller “True Crimes” at Focus Features.

The story is based on a 2008 New Yorker article by David Gann and deals with the story of Polish writer Krystian Bala.

Bala published a novel that described a murder strikingly similar to a cold case that had confounded local police for years.

Christoph Waltz is playing police officer Jacek Wroblewski, who re-opens the case and is sucked into an underworld of sex rings and drugs. Eventually he was able to convict Bala for the crime.

Roman Polanski is tipped to direct, while Brett Ratner, John Cheng and David Gerson are producing.
