Christina Hendricks Makes A “Common Prayer”

Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”) is set to star in Campbell Scott’s indie film adaptation of Joan Didion’s 1977 novel “A Book of Common Prayer.”

The story follows an American woman who arrives in a fictional Central American country on the verge of revolution. Inexplicably she thinks this the place where she will be reunited with her fugitive 19-year-old daughter.

A twist is that the story is seen through another’s eyes – an American anthropologist long married into the ruling family. Said character is trying to decipher the meaning of the American woman’s journey.

Joyce McKee and Rachel LeMin adapted the script, while Marcia Weiss will produce.
