Chris Pine To Join “Stretch,” “Woods”

“Star Trek Into Darkness” star Chris Pine has been tied to not one, but two projects in the works.

First up, Pine will re-team with his “Smokin’ Aces” director Joe Carnahan on the low-budget comedy/thriller “Stretch”. Pine’s role is said to be a cameo.

The story follows a chauffeur (Patrick Wilson) who starts working for a demanding billionaire. Filming aims to begin later this year.

At the same time, Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are in discussions to join Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep in the adaptation of the 1986 Broadway musical “Into the Woods” at Disney Pictures.

The darkly comic mash-up of classic fairy tales revolves around a childless Baker and his wife, who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the witch (Meryl Streep) that put the spell on them.

Pine and Gyllenhaal reportedly sang for director Rob Marshall for their parts – pompous and self-absorbed prince brothers and the love interests of Rapunzel and Cinderella.

Shooting aims to begin this Fall.
