Chris Guest & Netflix Team For “Mascots”

Nine years after his last film, legendary mockumentary filmmaker Christopher Guest (“Best in Show,” “Waiting for Huffman”) is returning to direct a new film and is doing it with the help of Netflix.

The streaming service made the announcement in a tweet, confirming this Netflix Original film will be titled “Mascots” and will premiere exclusively on the service in 2016. The film promises the following:

“Welcome to all the drama, intrigue and occasional excitement of the 8th World Mascot Association Championships, where a group of ‘unusual’ men and women, with big heads and furry suits, compete to win the prestigious Gold Fluffy Award and be crowned best mascot in the world.”

No doubt cutting jokes about the cutthroat world of profesional flurries will ensue. How many Guest regulars like Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Fred Willard, Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy and Jim Piddock might show up at this point is unknown.
