Chris Columbus will produce a film adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s novel “The Help” for his 1492 Productions says The Hollywood Reporter.
Kathryn Stockett’s novel dealt with African-American domestic servants and their wealthy white employers in Mississippi before the civil rights era.
Tate Taylor (“Pretty Ugly People”) has adapted the script and will direct. Columbus, Michael Barnathan, Brunson Green and Michael Radcliffe will produce.
Filming kicks off next spring in the South.
