“The Thick of It” star Chris Addison is set to make his big-screen directorial debut on “Nasty Women,” the title for the Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson-led “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” remake in the works at MGM.
The film gender-reverses both the 1964 Ralph Levy-directed and 1988 Frank Oz-directed comedy classics about con men who try to swindle an heiress. Here, two female scam artists – one low-rent and the other high-class – compete to swindle a naive tech prodigy out of his fortune.
Jac Schaeffer will write the screenplay while Wilson and Roger Birnbaum are producing. Addison has directed episodes of “The Thick of It” and “Veep,” and appeared in numerous shows from “Skins” to “Doctor Who”.
