Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain is in talks to star opposite the previously attached Jake Gyllenhaal the cast of “The Division,” the upcoming film adaptation of the Tom Clancy video game in development at Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
Set in the wake of a devastating pandemic that sweeps through New York City, basic services fail one by one and the city quickly descends into chaos.
Agents of a special branch known as ‘The Division’ set out to take back New York one block at a time. The game was released in March and was the biggest first-week launch ever for a new game franchise.
Gyllenhaal and Gerard Guillemot will produce. No writer or director have yet been announced. The first of Ubisoft’s game-to-film adaptations, “Assassin’s Creed,” is slated to open December 21st. A film version of “Splinter Cell” starring Tom Hardy is also in the works.
