Charlie Wilson Moved Up Four Days

Universal Pictures has accelerated the release date of “Charlie Wilson’s War” by four days, moving the film from December 25th to December 21st 2007.

The Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts led comedy/drama has long been one of the films that many thought was a shoe-in for Oscar candidacy with its lustrous star power and behind-the-scenes pedigree (Mike Nichols is the director, Aaron Sorkin penned the script).

Yet early reviews last week, whilst praising Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s supporting performance, have been only mildly positive – whilst there’s been some downright mixed reaction with complaints about the pacing but most of all simply not living up to the high expectations on it.

The move to the previous Friday now puts the film in direct competition with several high profile features including the “National Treasure” sequel, “Sweeney Todd” and “Walk Hard.”
