Following in the wake of his success with his “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig last weekend, Dave Chappelle has done a deal with Netflix for three new comedy specials.
Chappelle and director Stan Lathan will produce an original special for Netflix, while two other unreleased projects will come from Chappelle’s production vault – one produced out of an Austin City Limits venue, the other from a performance at the Hollywood Palladium.
Netflix’s VP of original documentary and comedy Lisa Nishimura says in a statement: “Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential. Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy.”
Both of the unreleased specials are set for release simultaneously next year, and no date is yet set for the new special. The projects mark the comedian’s first standup TV specials in twelve years.
