Just a few days after cancelling two of its three scripted summer series, CBS has already found one replacement in the form of a new sci-fi thriller event series titled “Salvation” which Alex Kurtzman (“Fringe,” “Star Trek”) is spearheading.
The story centers on an MIT grad student and a tech superstar who bring a low-level Pentagon official a staggering discovery – that an asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth. The serialized hourlong drama has earned a thirteen-episode order with plans for a Summer 2017 launch.
Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro (“Extant”) wrote the script, based on the story by Matt Wheeler. Kurtzman, Kruger, Shapiro, Heather Kadin and Peter Lenkov will executive produce for CBS Television Studios.
