CBS began its Television Critics Association’s winter press tour with the news that three of its four new drama series have all scored second season renewals.
“NCIS: New Orleans,” “Madam Secretary” and “Scorpion” have all been picked up, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler pointing out that the shows are, respectively, the first, second and third ranked new series among total viewers.
“NCIS” is broadcast TV’s No. 2 drama averaging 18.1 million viewers an episode, “Madam Secretary” is sunday’s most watched scripted series with 14.9 million viewers an episode, and “Scorpion” pulls in 14.5 million viewers an episode.
Two shows that didn’t score a renewal were “Stalker” and comedy “The McCarthys,” but both are said to still be in contention for next season. The network still has three series – “Battle Creek,” “CSI: Cyber,” and “The Odd Couple” – yet to debut.
