CBS is moving forward with both a TV series sequel to “Training Day” and the reboot of “MacGyver”. Both have scored series orders ahead of premieres this Fall.
Bill Paxton will star in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced ‘Training, which picks up fifteen years after the events of the original film. He’ll play a morally grey detective who gets partnered up with a young officer (Justin Cromwell). Julie Benz and Katrina Law also star.
Lucas Till stars in “MacGyver” which follows the twenty-something detective as he creates a clandestine organization to prevent disasters. George Eads is also onboard as a government employee with a love of eccentric conspiracies.
Those are just two of several shows CBS has picked up to series, the others being the Michael Weatherly-led “Bull” based on the early career of Dr. Phil, the medical technology drama “Pure Genius,” the Matt LeBlanc-led multi-camera comedy “Man with a Plan,” and the travel mag comedy “The Great Indoors” starring Joel McHale.
