CBS has given a series commitment to a “Supergirl” TV show just weeks after “Arrow” producer Greg Berlanti revealed he’s developing such a project.
The Live Feed reports that Berlanti and Ali Adler began pitching the show to several networks on Wednesday and the deal was closed last night.
The new series will deal with the most popular incarnation of the character, Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El. The series will focus on her as a 24-year-old woman who, having previously hidden her powers, decides to embrace her abilities.
Laura Vandervoort previously played Supergirl in numerous episodes of The CW’s “Smallville,” while Helen Slater played the character on the big screen in the early 1980s.
Berlanti and Adler are writing the pilot script and will executive produce alongside Sara Schechter.
