CBS has handed out a put pilot commitment for “The Rainmaker,” a small screen drama series adaptation of one of John Grisham’s most popular novels.
“Code Black” creator/executive producer Michael Seitzman and former “The Following” showrunner Brett Mahoney are behind the project which will be co-produced by ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios.
The pair will write the series based on the 1995 novel about a young lawyer who thinks he’s about to have it all, but suddenly finds all that ripped away – squaring off against the behemoth firm he dreamed of joining in a case that could get him killed.
Grisham, Seitzman and Mahoney will all executive produce. “The Rainmaker” was previously adapted into the 1997 Francis Ford Coppola film starring Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Claire Danes and Mickey Rourke.
