The network upfronts are all done with the five networks having released extended trailers for all their new series. We previously included NBC’s three trailers released to date, now here’s the rest from CBS, ABC, FOX and The CW.
From the “Magnum P.I.” and “Charmed” reboots, to family comedies galore – this year’s line-up was notable mostly for its lack of anything even remotely risk-taking. Medical procedurals, police procedurals, high-concept mystery box shows, the odd lavishly produced drama, and sitcoms abound with sentiment right out of the 1950s – it’s all so familiar.
Indeed it’s telling that the most high profile pilots that weren’t picked up, like “Bad Boys” spin-off and the new adaptation of “L.A. Confidential,” are being shopped around to streaming services after the networks deemed them ‘inappropriate fits’ that would better suit outlets not dependent upon advertising.
