In surprising news, FX and AMC have handed out third season renewals for their original drama series “Tyrant” and “Halt and Catch Fire” respectively. Both will get ten more episodes each which will debut sometime around mid-2016.
“Tyrant” follows an unassuming American family drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. ‘Halt’ depicts a fictionalized insider’s view of the personal computer revolution in the early 1980s in Texas.
The renewals are a surprise as neither show has been either a critical darling or a ratings hit, though ‘Halt’ has performed better with reviews and “Tyrant” better with audiences. The second season of “Tyrant” pulled in just over 1 million viewers per episode on average, ‘Halt’ was doing just under half that amount.
‘Halt’ will also get new show runners as Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers will replace Jonathan Lisco.
