Having scored fairly solid reviews for the recently debuted first season of his “Castlevania” anime series on Netflix, producer Adi Shankar is using that momentum to plan more small screen interpretations of famed video game franchises.
“Castlevania,” based on the classic Konami game franchise of the same name, unveiled four episodes for its first season with a second and expanded eight episode already on the way. It is also seen as something of a test for Netflix to explore the idea of bringing Nintendo IPs to their streaming network.
In a new interview with Nintendo Life, Shankar confirmed he’s next working on an interpretation of the “Assassin’s Creed” franchise: “I am working on Assassin’s Creed. Lots has been decided but I’m not going to reveal any of it. It’s going to be dope.”
They then asked if asked if there was another Nintendo game he’d like to develop for the screen to which he responded: “dark ‘Metroid’ in the same anime style.” The Metroid series follows Samus Aran who tries to prevent the Space Pirates from harnessing the powers of the parasitic organisms known as Metroids.
