“Fright Night” stars Anton Yelchin and Imogen Poots are reteaming to star in “Blue Ruin” director Jeremy Saulnier’s indie thriller “Green Room” for Broad Green Pictures. Alia Shawkat, Callum Turner, Joe Cole, Macon Blair and Mark Webber also star in the film which shoots in Portland later this month.
The story centers on a punk band who witnesses a murder at one of their shows in a middle-of-nowhere venue. They find themselves locked in the green room and targeted for death by a gang of racist skinheads. Poots plays a skinhead who joins forces with the band. [Source: Heat Vision]
Donnie Yen (“IP Man”) has signed on to star in Daming Chen’s English-language action feature “Noodle Man”. Michael Shamberg will produce.
Yen will play an ex-cop from China who has given up on himself after a botched mission 15 years earlier killed his partner. He finds a new lease on life when the Chinese drug lord responsible walks into his noodle shop in New York’s Chinatown. [Source: Heat Vision]
Frank Langella has joined the third season of FX’s spy drama “The Americans”. Langella will play a recurring role as a former KGB handler named Gabriel.
In the series, Gabriel comes out of retirement to take back responsibility for overseeing the two KGB operatives from their previous handler, Claudia (Margo Martindale). Production began this week on the series which returns in January. [Source: The Live Feed]
Untitled NFL Concussion Film
Bitsie Tulloch (“Grimm”) has joined the cast of Peter Landesman’s untitled NFL concussion film at Sony Pictures. Tulloch will play Keana Strzelczyk, the wife of a former NFL player.
Will Smith plays a neuropathologist investigating the long-term effects of head trauma suffered by pro-footballers and how it contributed to the suicides of former NFL superstars like Dave Duerson and Junior Seau. [Source: Deadline]
