Anton Yelchin (“Star Trek,” “Terminator Salvation”) has scored the lead role in Jacob Tierney’s Canadian indie feature “Baseballissimo”. Jay Baruchel co-wrote and also stars in the film.
Yelchin will play Kyle Buffone, a rising baseball minor-league player who gets detoured on the way to major-league stardom by pitching for the Peones, a baseball team in Italy. [Source: THR]

Mira Sorvino has joined the cast of Gee Malik Linton’s thriller “Daughter of God” alongside Keanu Reeves, Ana de Armas, Christopher McDonald, Big Daddy Kane, Michael Rispoli and Laura Gomez. Filming is now underway in New York.

Olivia Holt (“Kickin’ It”) has joined the cast of faith-based drama “Same Kind Of Different As Me” at Paramount Pictures. Holt will play Regan, the daughter of Renee Zellweger and Greg Kinnear’s characters.

Edmund Kingsley (“Hugo,” “The Borgias”) has scored the lead role in Andrew Martin’s debut feature “Capsule”. Lisa Greenwood and Joseph Baird also star.
Kingsley will play an experienced fighter pilot who is in command of Britain’s first manned mission to space at the height of the Cold War. He ends up alone in space with a malfunctioning capsule, and in unusual communication with both the U.S. and Soviet Russia. [Source: Deadline]
ABC and actress Natascha McElhone are teaming to develop a modern event series take on Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel “Little Women” with a script commitment having been handed out. McElhone will star in and executive produce.
The new take on the story follows the lives of four sisters coming of age who find themselves at odds with the conservative and traditional society in which they live.
