How To Talk To Girls At Parties
Ruth Wilson, Jessica Plummer, Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning, Alex Sharp and Matt Lucas have joined the cast of John Cameron Mitchell’s “How To Talk To Girls At Parties” at A24. The film is based on a short story by Neil Gaiman while Howard Gertler, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman are producing.

The story follows a shy teenage punk rocker in 1970s suburban London, and his two closest friends. One night they all sneak into a party where they meet a group of intensely attractive, otherworldly girls; at first they think they’re from a cult, but eventually come to realize the girls are literally aliens with nefarious plans. Ashes in the Snow
Jonah Hauer-King and Bel Powley (“Diary Of A Teenage Girl”) have come onboard Marius Markevicius’ World War II drama “Ashes In The Snow” in the leading roles. Ben York Jones adapted the script and filming begins in Lithuania early next year.

Based on Ruta Sepetys’ New York Times bestseller “Between Shades Of Gray,” the coming-of-age story follows a sixteen -year-old aspiring artist who is deported to Siberia amidst Stalin’s reign of terror in the Baltic region during WWII. Jean of the Joneses
Sherri Shepherd, Michelle Hurst, Mamoudou Athie, Erica Ash, Gloria Reuben, Francois Arnaud and newcomer Taylour Paige have joined the cast of Stella Meghie’s indie comedic drama “Jean Of The Joneses” at Search Engine Films. Filming will take place in New York and Toronto.

Meghie wrote and is making her feature directorial debut on film which centers on 25-year-old Jean (Paige) and her multi-generational, dysfunctional, middle-class Jamaican-American family of strong-minded, stubborn yet incredibly loving women. Before I Fall
Jennifer Beals has scored a co-starring role opposite Zoey Deutch in Ry Russo-Young’s “Before I Fall” at Awesomeness Films. Maria Maggenti and Gina Prince-Bythewood penned this adaptation of Lauren Oliver’s young-adult novel, shooting is set to start this month.

Deutch plays a high school senior who has it all: beautiful, with a great boyfriend and amazing best friends. But she finds that she may be living the last day of her life over and over until she gets it right. Beals will play her happily married, good-humored and down-to-earth mom. [Source: Deadline]

Double Play
Lennie James, Colin Salmon, Alexander Karim, Mustafa Shakir and Isaach De Bankole have been set to star in Ernest Dickerson’s adaptation of the Frank Martinus Arion 1973 novel”Double Play”. Evan Jones and Alaric Alexander Smeets penned the script and filming begins this month in Curacao.

Louis Gossett Jr., Melanie Liburd, Saycon Sengbloh, Bronson Pinchot and Dani Dare co-also star in the island drama which deals with colonial unrest on the Caribbean island during the tumultuous transition from Dutch colonial rule to autonomous self-governance.
