Ben Whishaw (“Cloud Atlas,” “Skyfall”) has been cast as the lead in the upcoming five-episode drama “London Spy” for BBC Two and Working Title Television. “Child 44” author Tom Rob Smith is penning the series.
Whishaw plays Danny, a hedonistic romantic who gets drawn into the dangerous world of British espionage. He falls for the anti-social Alex who suddenly disappears.
Kevin Connolly (“Entourage”) is attached to star in the office comedy “Fantasy Life” which Fox has given a put-pilot commitment. The potential series is an adaption of ESPN analyst Matthew Berry’s best-selling book of the same name.
Connolly would play a regular guy who lands his ultimate dream job working in the fantasy sports department at a major sports network.
Untitled Concussion Movie
Paul Reiser has signed on for a role in the Peter Landesman-directed, Will Smith-led untitled football concussion movie at Scott Free and Sony Pictures. Alec Baldwin, Albert Brooks and Gugu Mbatha-Raw also recently signed on.
Smith would play a neuropathologist who discovered that major head injuries and life-long debilitating problems were facing NFL players because of repeated concussions. Reiser will play the chair of the NFL medical committee, who attempts to stop Smith’s character from releasing his study to the public and league.
Queen of Earth
Patrick Fugit (“Almost Famous”) will join Elisabeth Moss and Katherine Waterston in Alex Ross Perry’s indie psychological thriller “Queen of Earth”. Fugit will play a local man and friends with one of the female leads.
The story centers on two childhood female friends who meet up for a weekend at a beach house. They become aware of how disconnected from each other they are, allowing their suspicions to bleed into reality. Filming is currently underway in New York.
Our Brand Is Crisis
Anthony Mackie (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) has signed on for a role in David Gordon Green’s political dramatic comedy “Our Brand Is Crisis”. Scoot McNairy and Billy Bob Thornton also star while George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing.
Sandra Bullock leads the cast as a political consultant who often uses famous quotations to get her point across. The film is based on the documentary of the same name about American campaign strategies that helped elect the President of Bolivia.
