Sea of Trees
Naomi Watts is in talks to join Matthew McConaughey in Gus Van Sant’s “Sea of Trees”. McConaughey will play a man who travels to a famous forest at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan where many go to commit suicide.
Reeling with despair over the death of his terminally ill wife (likely Watts), he meets another lost soul (Ken Watanabe) and ultimately rekindles his desire to live. Shooting will begin around July or August. [Source: Screen]
Voyage of Time
Cate Blanchett will join Brad Pitt in recording narration for Terrence Malick’s long in the works documentary “Voyage of Time”. The film is said to showcase “the history of humanity from the Big Bang until to today.” [Source: Screen]
Ed Westwick (“Gossip Girl”), Dominic Sherwood (“The Cut”), Jeremy Sumpter (“Peter Pan”) and Phoebe Tonkin (“The Originals”) have joined the cast of Jim Gillespie’s “Toy Soldiers”-esque young adult kidnapping thriller “Take Down”. Filming begins early June on the Isle of Man and in Wales.
The story focuses on the sons and daughters of billionaires who have been sent by their frustrated parents to an exclusive, tough-love boot camp on a remote island. When they are taken hostage by a group of sophisticated kidnappers, the captives suddenly need every ounce of their brief training to survive. [Source: Variety]
A Three Dog Life
German film and television star Veronica Ferres (“Schtonk”) has joined the cast of Nick Guthe’s “A Three Dog Life”.
