ITV has posted a first look at David Tennant as Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen in the just-announced miniseries “Des” which hails from “Catherine The Great” producer New Pictures. Daniel Mays and Jason Watkins co-star.
Luke Neal and Lewis Arnold developed the series Nilsen’s unravelling from the point of his arrest to his trial and is based on the Brian Masters book “Killing For Company”. Nilsen murdered at least twelve men and boys between 1978 and 1983. [Source: Radio Times]
Corey Hawkins (“24: Legacy,” “Straight Outta Compton”) is in talks to join Oscar winners Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand and Brendan Gleeson in Joel Coen‘s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” at A24. Coen is directing from his own original screenplay and filming begins early next year.
Washington plays a general convinced by a trio of witches that he’s destined to become the king of Scotland. With the help of his ambitious wife (McDormand), Macbeth tries to seize the crown by any means necessary. Hawkins’ role is being kept under wraps. [Source: Collider]
“Mindhunter” actor Holt McCallany will join Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Willem Defoe, Bradley Cooper, Toni Collette and David Strathairn in Guillermo del Toro’s new film “Nightmare Alley”. McCallany will play Anderson, a get-the-job-done bruiser with more going on that is first apparent from his tough-guy persona.
Based on William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel, the story revolves around an ex-carnival con-man turned spiritualist (Cooper) who teams up with a female psychiatrist to scoop cash out of the wallets and lives of their wealthy marks with some less than holy moves – until things turn.
