The Runner
“Revenge” star Madeleine Stowe has signed on to star opposite Nicolas Cage’s congressman character in Austin Stark’s political drama “The Runner” for Paper Street Films and Back Lot Pictures. Filming begins in New Orleans in June.

Stowe plays Deborah Price, the congressman’s wife. The pair are stuck in a dead marriage in which she ignores her husband’s publicly revealed infidelities because the pair are bound together by ambition and power. [Source: Deadline]

Men of Granite
Shirley MacLaine is negotiating to star in the true story tale “Men Of Granite”. The story follows a group of poor 1940s high school boys from Slavic and Armenian backgrounds who rose above bigotry in a small town in Illinois by becoming basketball state champions.

MacLaine would play the role of Sophia Prather, a schoolteacher who watches over her boys with a steely eye, takes no guff and prods the boys into getting out of their broken-down neighborhood gymnasium and onto the high school court. [Source: Deadline]

Maz Jobrani is set to play Jafar and Kathy Najimy is the Evil Queen in the upcoming Disney telemovie “Descendants”. The Kenny Ortega-helmed telemovie highlights the teen offspring of Disney’s classic characters including the various villains

The pair join the likes of Kristin Chenoweth as Maleficent, Wendy Raquel Robinson as Cruella de Vil, and Melanie Paxson as the Fairy Godmother. [Source: Variety]

Michael Eklund (“Bates Motel,” “The Call”) and Brendan Sexton (“Boys Don’t Cry”) are joining Whitney Able and Alexandra Breckenridge in Nick Basile’s psychological thriller “Dark”. Filming begins late June in New York.
