Michael Shannon will star as Elvis Presley and Kevin Spacey will star as Richard Nixon in Liza Johnson’s extraordinary true story feature “Elvis & Nixon”. Kevin Connolly and Luke Wilson also star.

Cary Elwes along with Hanala and Joey Sagal penned the script about the morning of December 21st 1970 when Presley requested a meeting with Nixon for a very urgent reason – he wanted to be sworn in as an undercover Federal Agent at large. [Source: Screen]

Shut In
Naomi Watts has signed on to star in Farren Blackburn’s drama “Shut In” for Lava Bear Films and EuropaCorp. Christina Hodson penned the 2012 Blacklist screenplay and filming begins in Europe next year.

Watts plays a woman who tries to raise her catatonic son on her own and suddenly discovers a shocking secret about him. [Source: THR]

Patrick Fugit (“Almost Famous,” “Gone Girl”) has scored the lead role in Cinemax’s new exorcism drama “Outcast” from “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman. Philip Glenister (“Life on Mars”) and Gabriel Bateman (“Annabelle”) also star and Adam Wingard (“The Guest,” “You’re Next”) has been tapped to direct the pilot.

Based on Paul Azaceta’s comic series of the same, Fugit plays a young man who’s been plagued by possession since he was a child. He sets out to seek answers, only to uncover something that could end all life on Earth as we know it. [Source: Deadline]

Peter Pan Live
Minnie Driver has joined the cast of NBC’s live production of the musical “Peter Pan”. Driver will serve as the narrator and play the adult Wendy Darling in the telecast which goes to air on December 4th.

While Driver is mostly just heard, she makes brief onscreen appearance in the final emotional scene when Peter returns to the Darling home years later only to realize Wendy is now grown up and has a daughter of her own. [Source: THR]

Emily Watson will join Kelli Garner and Susan Sarandon in Lifetime’s upcoming four-hour miniseries “Marilyn” about the life of tragic Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. Stephen Kronish (“The Kennedys”) penned the script.

Watson will play Grace McKee, the high-spirited, loving guardian to young Norma Jeane Mortenson who instilled in the lonely girl the dream of becoming a star, despite the objections of the girl’s mentally ill mother (Sarandon). [Source: Deadline]
