Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
She was rumored for the part last week, now Kaya Scodelario (“The Maze Runner”) is officially set to play the female lead in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” at Disney Pictures.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer announced the news on Twitter, confirming her involvement in the film which begins shooting next month in Australia.

Geostorm
Egyptian star Amr Wakd (“Lucy”) will join the Dean Devlin-directed, Gerard Butler-led sci-fi blockbuster “Geostorm” which is currently shooting in New Orleans.

Wakd will play the French head of security at an international space station when the earth’s climate control satellites fail to function. Katheryn Winnick, Ed Harris, Andy Garcia and Sterling Jerins also star. [Source: Variety]

The Boy
Lauren Cohan (“The Walking Dead”) has signed on to star in William Brent Bell’s horror thriller “The Boy” at Lakeshore Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment. Gary Lucchesi, Tom Rosenberg, Roy Lee, Adam Stone and Jim Wedaa will produce an filming begins in March in British Columbia.

Stacey Menear’s script centers on a nanny (Cohan) who is tasked with overseeing a lifelike doll by a bizarre couple who treat it as a real child. Patient Zero
Stanley Tucci has scored the villain role in Stefan Ruzowitzky’s action thriller “Patient Zero” at Screen Gems. Natalie Dormer and Matt Smith also star.

Badlands
Orla Brady (“Fringe,” “Mistresses”) has scored a lead role in AMC’s direct-to-series martial arts drama “Badlands,” which is loosely based on the Chinese tale “Journey To The West.”

Set within feudal times, the story follows a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny (Daniel Wu) and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment. Brady will play a Baroness who runs her domain with an iron grip. [Source: Deadline]
