Queenslander Alex Russell (“Chronicle,” “Carrie”) is returning home to film a key role in Angelina Jolie’s new directorial effort “Unbroken”. Jack O’Connell plays Louis Zamperini, a former Olympian and WWII bombardier whose plane crashed at sea in 1943.
Adrift for 47 days, he was rescued by the Japanese Navy who sent him to a POW camp. Russell will play Pete, Zamperini’s older brother and member of the US athletics team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Garrett Hedlund and Domnhall Gleeson also star. [Source: Inside Film]
Kathryn Hahn (“we’re the Millers”) has joined the cast of Brad Bird’s sci-fi adventure movie “Tomorrowland” at Disney Pictures. The film is currently shooting in Vancouver, and Hahn plays a comedic supporting character named Ursula.

Topher Grace, Sarah Silverman and Patti Lupone are set to star in HBO’s new comedy pilot “People In New Jersey”. Paul Feig will direct the pilot, while Lorne Michaels will executive produce.
Grace plays an affable NEw Jersey locksmith who has a definite idea of how things and people should be. His sister Melanie (Silverman) is a former management consultant and a closet optimist. Their opinionated widowed mother Rachel (Lupone) focuses a lot of her energy on worrying about her children. [Source: Deadline]
Franz Kranz (“Dollhouse,” “Cabin in the Woods”) has scored a role in William Monahan’s “Mojave”. Kranz will play a fun-loving post-production assistant named Tom.
