Armie Hammer has joined the cast of actor/director Nate Parker’s “The Birth Of A Nation” about Nat Turner, an African-American slave turned revolutionary who led a bloody rebellion in Virginia in 1831.
Turner went down in history as one of the most controversial American figures preceding the Civil War. Hammer plays Samuel Turner, the son of Nat’s first master Benjamin Turner. [Source: Deadline]

Linda Cardellini (“Mad Men,” “Freaks and Geeks”) will join Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in Sean Anders’ comedy “Daddy’s Home” for Paramount and Red Granite. Cardellini will play Ferrell’s wife in the project which begins shooting later this year.
The story centers on a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) looking to become the best stepdad possible to his wife’s two children just as their freewheeling and freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives on the scene. [Source: THR]
