Prodigal Son
Tom Payne (“The Walking Dead”) will replace Finn Jones as the lead in the Fox drama pilot “Prodigal Son”. The decision to recast the role came after the pilot’s first table read. Michael Sheen, Bellamy Young, Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, and Frank Harts co-star.

Payne plays Malcolm Bright, an acclaimed criminal psychologist who knows how killers think because his now-imprisoned father (Sheen) is one of the worst. Malcolm will use his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers. Source: Variety]

Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Short are set as the leads in Teppo Airaksinen’s young adult film “Supercool”. Ali Moussavi and Olli Hakka penned the script and the latter is also producing with Scott Einbinder. Filming begins later this month in Alabama.

The story follows nerdy high school best friends Neil (Short) and Gilbert who are sick of being bullied. They long for the life of Porsches and hot girls, like Neil’s neighbor Jimmy ‘the legend’ (Wayons Jr.). But when Neil makes a magical 11:11 wish, the unsuspecting Jimmy gets lured into a night of shenanigans attracting way more than any of them bargained for. [Source: Deadline]

Pierre the Pigeon Hawk
Nick Cannon, Jennifer Coolidge, Whoopi Goldberg, E.G. Daily and Kenan Thompson will lend their voices to animated musical “Pierre The Pigeon-Hawk” for Exodus Film Group and Ncredible Entertainment. John D. Eraklis is set to direct.

Set in New York City, the story will follow Pierre (Cannon – a product of forbidden love between a hawk and a pigeon, Pierre is rejected by both communities. Dejected and confused, he sets out on a mission to find out where he belongs and unites with a band of unlikely friends along the way. [Source: THR]

The Many Saints of Newark
John Magaro (“Overlord,” “The Big Short”) has been cast in “The Sopranos” prequel movie “The Many Saints of Newark” at New Line. There’s no word on who Magaro is playing but he joins a cast that includes Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen and Michael Gandolfini.

Set in the era of the Newark riots in the 1960s, when African Americans and Italian Americans in the city were at each other’s throats, that clash became lethal when it spread to gangsters of each group. [Source: Deadline]

Da 5 Bloods
Spike Lee’s Netflix film “Da 5 Bloods” has rounded out cast with Clarke Peters (“The Wire”), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (“BlacKkKlansman”), Norm Lewis (Sex And The City 2), Melanie Thierry (“The Zero Theorem”) and Jasper Paakkonen (“Vikings”) joining Chadwick Boseman, Jean Reno, Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors and Paul Walter Hauser.

The story follows four African American vets who return to Vietnam. Searching for the remains of their fallen squad leader (Boseman) and the promise of buried treasure, the heroes battle forces of man and nature while confronted by the lasting ravages of the immorality of the Vietnam War.
