The Way
Former “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul has scored the lead male role and will produce the Hulu original series “The Way” which premieres this winter. Each episode explores the choice between the life we live and the life we want.

Paul will play Eddie Cleary, a convert to a controversial movement with a wayward past. He’s a husband and father who suffers a crisis of faith when all that he’s come to accept as truth in his life is fundamentally challenged. Michelle Monaghan stars as his wife. [Source: TV Line]

Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn are set to star in stage director Benedict Andrews’ filmmaking debut “Blackbird” which will shoot for five weeks across the south of England. Playwright David Harrower penned the script described as an intense, unflinching examination of damaged love.

Mendelsohn plays Ray, a man confronted with his past when the young and beautiful Una (Mara) arrives unannounced at his office. Fifteen years earlier, the two had an illicit affair, for which Ray was arrested and imprisoned. He has since built a new life for himself; she is looking for answers. [Source: Open Road Films]

Lights Out
Gabriel Bateman (“Stalker”) is set to star in New Line’s horror film “Lights Out” which James Wan is producing and David F. Sandberg is directing. Eric A. Heisserer penned the script based on Sandberg’s 2013 short film.

The story centers on a supernatural entity attacking a family, with one of the members required to step up to protect them from a threat that can be seen only when the lights go out. [Source: Variety]

The Magnificent Seven
Carrie Lazar (“Longmire”) has joined the cast of Antoine Fuqua’s remake of the 1960 Western “The Magnificent Seven” alongside Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Matt Bomer, Byung-hun Lee, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wagner Moura and Ethan Hawke.

The story follows seven gunmen, hired by a woman (Haley Bennett), to protect her small Old West town from a group of savage bandits led by a robber baron (Peter Sarsgaard). [Source: THR]

Jason Mitchell (“Straight Outta Compton”) and Nia Long (TV’s “Uncle Buck”) have joined the cast of comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s new comedy film “Keanu” at New Line. Will Forte and Method Man also star.

The story revolves around a group of friends pretending to be drug dealers in order to rescue a stolen cat. Long will play the wife of the character played by Key. [Source: THR]
