A Bittersweet Life
Michael B. Jordan is being eyed to play a mobster in the remake of the 2005 South Korean action-thriller “A Bittersweet Life” at 20th Century Fox. Jennifer Yuh Nelson (“Kung Fu Panda”) will direct while Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen are producing.
Lee Byung-hun starred in the original as a loyal enforcer for a crime boss, who assigned him to kill his young mistress if she turned out to be having an affair with another man. [Source: Variety]
Justin Theroux has been cast in a guest role in Emma Stone and Jonah Hill’s upcoming Netflix dark comedy series “Maniac”.
The story follows a man who lives a fantasy life in his dreams, but in reality, is locked up in an institution. Hill and Stone will play patients, details of Theroux’s role are unknown. [Source: Variety]
Alan Arkin is set to join Eva Green, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell in Tim Burton’s reimagined live-action “Dumbo” film at Disney Pictures. Arkin will play Wall Street tycoon J. Griffin Remington.
Farrell plays a former circus star who returns to the big tent after coming home from war and finds work with a struggling circus where he is put in charge of a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the show. “Dumbo” opens March 29th 2019. [Source: THR]
Them That Follow
Olivia Colman, Alice Englert and Thomas Mann have been set to star in Brittany Poulton and Daniel Savage’s “Them That Follow” from an original screenplay. Filming begins October in Ohio.
The dramatic thriller is set in the Appalachia wilds, where the daughter (Alice Englert) of a Pentecostal pastor shares romantic past with a nonbeliever (Thomas Mann) and must decide whether to trust the steely matriarch of their community (Olivia Colman) with her heart and life at stake.
