Ken Jeong (“Community,” “The Hangover”) will join the returning Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in the “Ride Along” sequel at Universal. Details of his role are being kept under wraps.
The low-budget cop comedy opened earlier this year to a surprise $153 million gross, prompting the quick green light of a sequel for an early 2016 release. Jeong joins fellow newcomers to the franchise Olivia Munn and Benjamin Bratt who recently joined the sequel. [Source: Deadline]
James Callis (“Battlestar Galactica”) has joined the cast of Roberto Orci’s El Rey drama series “Matador” which Robert Rodriguez is executive producing. Gabriel Luna stars as soccer star-turned-CIA secret agent Tony ‘Matador’ Bravo.
Callis will recur as Lucien Sayer, the leader of a cabal of powerful executives and politicians. Bravo spends much of the season trying to discover Sayer’s true motives for trying to amass as much influence as possible. [Source: Digital Spy]
Irish actor Sam Keely (“This Must Be The Place”) has joined the cast of the culinary pic “Chef” at The Weinstein Company. Bradley Cooper, Omar Sy, and Sienna Miller also star in the film which isn’t to be confused with the recent Jon Favreau film of the same name.
Bradley Cooper, Omar Sy, and Sienna Miller star in the story of a Paris chef (Cooper) whose career is tanked by a hard-partying lifestyle. Sober, he returns determined to redeem himself by heading a restaurant that can earn a coveted three-star Michelin rating. Keeley will play a chef whom Cooper’s character ends up crashing with when he’s displaced from his home. [Source: Deadline]
Kyle Massey (“Senior Project”) has booked a recurring role on Fox’s Batman prequel series “Gotham”. Massey will play Macky, an abused and neglected kid who lives on the streets.
Based on DC characters from the Batman universe, the drama follows a young James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), a rookie detective in Gotham City. [Source: Deadline]
