Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy are set to star in “Louis Wain,” a biopic of the prolific English artist who rose to prominence at the end of the 19th century. Filming begins August 10th with Will Sharpe (“Flowers”) directing from a script he co-wrote with Simon Stephenson.
Cumberbatch will play Wain, a brilliant man inspired by both his love of the world and the love of his life, Emily, who will be played by Foy. Wain was famous for his distinctive paintings of cats and was also an inspirational hero who defied obstacles throughout his life. [Source: Variety]
The Harder They Fall
Jonathan Majors (“The Last Black Man in San Francisco”) is set to star in the Netflix feature “The Harder They Fall” which has Jay-Z, James Lassiter and Lawrence Bender set to produce. British musician Jeymes Samuel (aka Bullitts) is on board to direct and previously worked with Jay-Z on “The Great Gatsby” soundtrack.
Majors plays outlaw Nat Love who discovers that the man who killed his parents two decades ago is being released from prison and decides to reunite with his gang to track his enemy down and seek his revenge. [Source: Variety]

Jason Dohring (“Veronica Mars”) has joined the ensemble indie film “You Are Here” alongside Lea Thompson, William Baldwin, Peter Vack, Anna Popplewell, Jacqueline Byers and Cathryn Dylan. Anthony Nero penned the script.

Sorta Like A Rock Star
Auli’i Cravalho (“Moana”) has been set to lead the cast in the film “Sorta Like A Rock Star” from Netflix with Brett Haley (“Hearts Beat Loud”) directing, replacing Bryce Dallas Howard who was originally slated to helm. Filming begins in October.
Based on Matthew Quick’s novel, the story follows a teenage girl who, despite difficult circumstances, is preternaturally optimistic about the world and her place in it. She often helps those around her, resulting in powerful bonds with a disparate group of outsiders in her community, until she faces a devastating loss and can no longer ignore the challenges in her own life.
