Casting: McKinnon, Ryan, Weaver, Aniston, Broussard

Just one month out from release, The Weinstein Company has hired SNL alum Kate McKinnon to voice three different characters in the animated film “Leap!” which opens April 21st.

McKinnon will voice Regine Le Haut, Mother Superior & the mother of the Elle Fanning-voiced heroine. Nat Wolff, Maddie Ziegler, Mel Brooks and Carly Rae Jepsen also lend their voice to the French-Canadian production. [Source: Deadline]

Beautiful Boy
Amy Ryan (“Birdman”) has been set to co-star with her “The Office” love interest Steve Carell in the Amazon and Plan B drug-addiction drama “Beautiful Boy”. Felix van Groeningen (“The Broken Circle Breakdown”) is attached to direct the script he co-wrote with Luke Davies (“Lion”) adapted from David Sheff’s 2008 book.

The memoir describing the author’s son Nic’s methamphetamine addiction and its impact on the family. Ryan will play Vicki, Nic’s mother and the ex-wife of Carell’s David. [Source: Deadline]

Irreplaceable You
Jacki Weaver, Timothy Simons, and Claire Holt have joined Stephanie Laing’s romantic drama “Irreplaceable You” which is currently shooting in New York.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Michiel Huisman star in the Bess Wohl-penned film about Abbie and Sam, soulmates since the age of 8 who were destined to be together until death got in the way. Alanna Masterson, Merritt Wever, Erin Richards, Brian Tyree Henry, Christopher Walken, and Steve Coogan also star. [Source: Variety]

Jennifer Aniston will star in the Anne Fletcher-directed music-driven comedy “Dumplin'” which will be shot this Summer. Based on Julie Murphy’s young adult nove, the story follows a confident, plus-sized, teen who is obsessed with all things Dolly Parton.

Aniston will star as Rosie, a former beauty pageant queen who now runs the local Texas pageant and is the lead character’s mother. Kristin Hahn penned the script and will produce alongside Michael Costigan (“Ghost In The Shell”). [Source: Deadline]

Israel Broussard (“Bling Ring”) will join Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan in Ben Young’s sci-fi thriller “Extinction” at Universal Pictures and Mandeville Films. Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman will produce.

“Arrival” scribe Eric Heisserer along with Spenser Cohen and Bradley Caleb Kane pens the film which follows a father (Pena) whose recurring nightmare of losing his family becomes a real threat as the planet is invaded by aliens. [Source: Heat Vision]
