The Other Typist
Fox Searchlight has scored the film rights to Suzanne Rindell’s debut novel “The Other Typist” with Keira Knightley attached to star in and produce.

The story revolves around a lonely and isolated typist in a police precinct who strikes up a friendship with a mysterious co-worker who introduces her to the glamorous 1920s New York underworld. [Source: THR]

British actress Sophie McShera (“Downton Abbey”) has been cast as an evil stepsister in Kenneth Branagh’s live adaptation of “Cinderella” at Disney Pictures.

Lily James, Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden and Holliday Granger co-star in the film which begins shooting in September. [Source: Variety]

Love and Mercy
Elizabeth Banks has joined Bill Pohlad’s Beach Boys biopic Love & Mercy. Banks will take on the role of Melinda, a former model who later becomes the wife of the group’s leader Brian Wilson.

The story takes an unconventional look at the life of the Wilson and his battle with mental illness. John Cusack, Paul Dano and Paul Giamatti also star. Shooting begins in August in Los Angeles. [Source: THR]

Veronica Mars
Ken Marino, who played rival private investigator Vinnie Van Lowe in the series, is coming back for the “Veronica Mars” movie.

Director Rob Thomas also confirmed that Marino’s “Party Down” co-star Martin Starr has scored a new role in the film – a character named Lou ‘Cobb’ Cobbler. [Source: E! Online]
